Environmental Philosophy

Realize environmental management that is gentle on the Earth and trusted by stakeholders, while providing manufacturing equipment and services leading to environmental contributions.

Behavioral Guidelines

Seek to harmonize environmental and economic interests in all business activities, products and services (the EQCD concept); offer products with lower environmental burden through innovative improvements in resource efficiency, and eliminate anti-social activities that threaten the health and safety of mankind and the environment.

  1. Optimize the organizations for promoting the Canon Group's global environmental efforts, and promote environmental management activities for the Group as a whole.
  2. Assess the environmental impact of entire product lifecycles and explore ways to reduce the environmental burden.
  3. Promote the development of technologies essential for environmental assurance and share the achievements with society.
  4. Comply with all applicable laws in each country/region and other requirements the Canon Group agrees upon with stakeholders, and promote energy and resource conservation and elimination of hazardous substances in all corporate activities.
  5. In procuring and purchasing necessary resources, give priority to materials, parts and products with lower environmental burden.
  6. Establish an Environmental Management System (EMS), establish and periodically review environmental objectives and targets to prevent environmental pollution and damage, and steadily reduce environmental burdens.
  7. Actively disclose to all stakeholders information on environmental impact and apprise them of the progress on environmental measures.
  8. Raise the environmental awareness of employees and educate them to take the initiative in environmental protection.
  9. Maintain close relationships with governments, communities, and other interested parties, and actively support and participate in environmental protection activities.

Environmental Initiatives

In line with its corporate philosophy of the Canon Group's environmental assurance philosophy is to "Pursue the maximization of resource productivity for the prosperity of the world and the well-being of mankind, and contribute to the construction of a society capable of sustainable development.“

Bird Branch Project

The Bird Branch Project is Canon's original initiative to reflect on the cycle of life through bird-themed activities.
Three keywords “nurture,” “convey” and” extend” The aim is to contribute to solving the global issue of biodiversity conservation, with a focus on biodiversity.
As a first step for employees to rethink and act in harmony with nature, Canon Machinery has been developing green spaces and installing nest boxes on the premises (Kusatsu Head Office and Moriyama Works and Canon Machinery (Malaysia) ).
Keri, a wild bird with long legs, has flown in, and all the employees are warmly watching Keri's parenting, from brooding to raising her chicks.

Environmental beautification activities

Canon Machinery conducts monthly clean-up activities around the company. We actively work to beautify roads used by local residents by collecting litter, such as empty cans and cigarette butts, and cleaning activities such as weeding.

Earth Hour

Canon Machinery participates in Earth Hour * sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
※By turning off lights on the same day and at the same time around the world, this event demonstrates our commitment to preventing global warming and preserving biodiversity.

Biodiversity Photo Contest

Canon Machinery Malaysia conducted the "Biodiversity Photo Contest" as part of its biodiversity conservation activities. In recent years, human activities have caused climate change, habitat degradation, loss of biodiversity and species extinction on a global scale. This photo contest was held to raise awareness of biodiversity and environmental protection among employees.
